Hallucinations, Prompt Manipulations, and Mitigating Risk: Putting Guardrails around your LLM-Powered Applications

by Don Shin

Large Language Models (LLMs) offer a future where we can interact with computers naturally like we interact with humans. However amazing this potential, enterprise adoption is still hindered by the risk of hallucinations – the propensity of LLMs to respond inaccurately but in a voice of complete confidence. Also, LLMs by themselves can be easily manipulated by end-user prompts to respond in ways that can damage trust or create liability. In order for LLM-powered applications to be fully utilized in real-world production settings, risk must be mitigated through effective guardrail strategies.

You Don’t Need an AI Strategy, But You Do Need to Be Strategic About AI

by Jessica Hall

There’s so much noise about creating an “AI strategy,” it’s easy to feel like you’re already behind. But here’s the thing: you don’t need an AI strategy or a data strategy. Those things need to serve your business strategy and that requires strategic thinking.

  • “I attended the All Things AI Conference in March and have been a member of the All Things AI meetup and a subscriber to your newsletter ever since. This is ESSENTIAL information for everyone interested in the future of business. For Prompt Engineering, Mark delivered clear, actionable and novel techniques to get the most out of ChatGPT with a variety of show and tell methods including interactive responses to live chat questions. Truly essential information delivered authentically by a top domain expert. More please, Mark!”

  • “As an educator and researcher, I'm constantly seeking ways to enhance my teaching and streamline my work. Attending the All Things Open AI conference at the Carolina Theatre in Durham was a game-changer for me. After the event, I became a follower of Mark on LinkedIn and joined the All Things AI Meetup group. Mark's session on prompt engineering was exceptional—packed with actionable insights and tools that have already made a tangible difference in my work. For instance, I've explored "deep research" techniques, which helped me design an engaging professional development session on time management, complete with handouts created by ChatGPT. I was also thrilled with Mark's introduction to macros—a feature I can't wait to dive into further, as I know it will save me countless hours in the long run. In just two hours, Mark shared so much incredible information—it was truly a great way to spend a Tuesday evening. I'm deeply grateful for the resources and knowledge he's shared, and I'm eager to see more sessions focused on applying these skills in academia. Thank you, Mark, for transforming the way I approach my work!”

  • “I have used AI once so far to help with a LinkedIn post Jan.2025🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ I expressed to a few AI for me went from the Jetsons to Terminator, not to mention Siri nosy a$$ always changing my sentences, but when I ask for her help with spelling -she MIA I graduated from high school with a goal of electrical engineering that dwindled to a few years in IT -to now a person who only emails and texts. I say all of that to say ALL THINGS OPEN AI was definitely more than a treat. I Thank You for all the great information you shared, and I’m definitely all in on every email you share. Sincerely The lady who attended today and has never used chatGPT🙂❤️🙏🏾”

    — Niki Alston

  • “The content was well organized and easy to digest. This was my first AI conference, although I've been a user of ChatGPT for a while. I learned so much!”

    — Anne Bourgeois

  • “This was a great practical, "down-to-earth" approach to understanding opportunities and use cases for GenAI and ChatGPT. Mark has a candid, inclusive style that makes him relatable to all participants. His deep knowledge and curiosity of all things AI makes for a highly-engaging session.”
