We added you from a past event: how to update your details

If you came to one of our events, bought a ticket through another ticketing service, or sent us a talk proposal, we may already have a record for you. We created it from the email address you used at the time. This article explains how those records reach your account and what you can do if something is missing.

Sign in with the email we have

Sign in with the email address you used when you registered or sent your proposal. Then open your profile. Each time your profile loads, we look for records that match the verified emails on your account and link them to you.

The "What we found for you" list on your profile shows what is linked to your account: your registrations, counted by event, and your CFP submissions and speaker sessions, by title.

Not sure which email you used? Look for the confirmation or ticket email from the event.

Add and verify your other emails

If you have used more than one email with us, such as a work address one year and a personal address the next, you don't need a second account.

  1. Open your profile and go to the account section.
  2. Add the other email address.
  3. Verify it with the code sent to that address.
  4. Come back to your profile. We link the records under that email on that visit.

We only use emails you have verified. An email you added but haven't verified is never used to link records.

What gets linked today

  • Registrations: tickets and registrations under any verified email on your account, including ones we imported from another ticketing service.
  • CFP submissions: talk proposals sent from any verified email on your account that aren't already linked to an account.
  • Speaker records: your speaker applicant record under any verified email, and the session for each accepted talk proposal linked to your account whose email is verified on your account.

We never move a record that already belongs to a different account. If a record is linked to another account you use, sign in to that account, or ask the event team for help.

Your details on speaker pages

Public speaker pages show the details you save on your profile once your speaker record is linked to your account. The link happens in one of two ways:

  • Your talk proposal is linked to your account, the proposal's email is verified on your account, the talk was accepted, and you're still the session's speaker under the name on your proposal. We link its session the next time you open your profile. A proposal you sent for someone else, under an email you haven't verified, isn't linked to you. If the event team changed the session's speaker to someone else, that session isn't linked to you.
  • An event organizer links your speaker record to an email you've verified on your account. An email on a registration or talk proposal alone isn't enough.

If more than one speaker on a session has a name that matches yours, none of them is linked automatically. Ask the event team to make the names distinct.

After that, the photo, company, job title, bio, and links on your profile show on the speaker directory, the event speakers page, your speaker page, and the homepage speaker sections. A field you leave empty shows the details from the event program instead. Changes can take a few minutes to appear.

Your name on speaker pages still comes from the event program. If it's wrong, ask the event team to correct it.

If the event team imports the program again, it won't replace the details you saved on your profile.

If something is missing

  • Check that the email on the record is added to your account and verified.
  • Reload your profile after you verify a new email.
  • If a record still doesn't appear, contact the event team through the event site and tell them which email you used. Don't send passwords or payment details.
